Storage Workshop Design
Dave took his circa 1910 unique horse barn and transformed it right into a storage workshop for his stock automobile, which he races professionally on the ACT Late Model Tour circuit. Dave raised the barn to replace the rotted sill plate and take away old concrete, before setting up a brand new stress-treated sill and pouring a brand new floor for the storage. This elevated the ceiling to 9 toes, allowing for a small 4-foot carry for automobiles. Stock automotive work must be precise, so the new ground had to be perfectly flat.
Dave determined to make half the garage flat surface and the opposite half sloped to a ground drain and sand trap put in with the new foundation. No house was added to the original footprint, so no permit was required. The total price of the project was around $forty,000 to $50,000, which included the inspiration work, insulation, rewiring, and new yellow clapboards. The total house measures forty ft by 20 toes, with each bay extending two automobiles deep. Extras embrace a 12-foot workbench, an exhaust fan for fume extraction, and a hot-air furnace.
